Social proximity

Know when friends are nearby, and say hello

We've all found out too late that a close friend was in the same neighbourhood. Fuzz Nearby gently lets you know when people you know are close, so a quick wave can turn into a real meetup.

How Fuzz Nearby works

From "you're here too?" to hello, in one tap.

1

Sync your contacts

Fuzz finds which of your contacts already use it. Only hashed numbers are checked, never names.

2

Get a gentle nudge

When someone you know comes within your nearby radius, you get a quiet alert: "Papa is around the corner".

3

Wave, then meet

Send a one-tap wave. No typing, no pressure. They get a notification, and can wave back or check where you are.

Why people love it

Serendipity, brought back to everyday life.

The one-tap wave

A light, friendly hello that's easier than a text and less awkward than a call.

Proximity alerts

Know when a friend is within your radius. It starts at 250 metres, and you decide the distance.

Distance and battery at a glance

See how far away each person is and how much battery their phone has left.

Only people you know

Fuzz Nearby shows contacts who also use Fuzz. Strangers never see you.

Go invisible any time

Need some space? Turn off your visibility for 8 hours, a day, 3 days, or until you switch it back on.

Your own alert tones

Set a custom tone for the people who matter, and know who's nearby without looking.

Real-life scenarios

Cities feel smaller, in the best way.

  • Friends in the same city find out who's nearby
  • Students meet up between classes
  • Colleagues spot each other at the same mall
  • Travellers bump into friends at the airport
Fuzz Nearby questions

Frequently asked questions

Can strangers see me on Fuzz?

No. Fuzz Nearby only shows people who are in your phone contacts and also use Fuzz. You can hide from any contact or turn off your visibility whenever you want.

How close does someone need to be?

Within your nearby radius. It starts at 250 metres, and you can change it in the app under Near Me, Change radius.

Will the other person know I waved?

Yes. They get a notification, "Wave from" and your name, and can wave back or open the app to see where you are.

Does Fuzz Nearby use a lot of battery?

Fuzz is built to update location efficiently in the background. Like any location app, it uses some battery. If your phone stops Fuzz to save power, nearby alerts can arrive late; our battery help explains the right settings for each phone brand.
